I went to my friends' anthropology lecture today out of interest. guy talking about FGM/female circumcision/FGC for two hours. He went off on about 80 tangents about when he was a teacher in Gambia, made a funny chewing sound when he talked about sex, told us how much he found the upper torso of a woman "interesting," asked us if we masterbated.

anyway, it was a lot of shite and I'm glad I don't do anthropology. Although he didn't necessarily defend fgm, he spent a lot of time talking about some stupid woman who is an "apologist" for fgm, cultural relativism and foucault and "it's actually the same ethical problem as with male circumcision" blah blah blah.
