What a legend. I didn't see all of her programme on Pompeii last night, but I didn't have too, I just know she's great. I also have an anecdote involving her: I was once kissing my then girlfriend goodbye with slightly too much PDA (LAD) before embarking on a morning walk of shame, when Mary Beard came walking past. What does she do? Gives me a cheeky grin, and, I may have imagined it but I don't think so, a lusty wink. It's like she was saying "Nice one, son. The Romans would have approved".
