I think that since he might be supporting an woman/man who is probably drawn to super rich, then he might have needed to keep his pension which is why he does insist on us paying him 700K per year after the initial lump sum of 3m, despite his having presided over his teams crash in form and near relegation from the leagues, I even believe that one of his initiatives is one that helped generate much of RBS's record losses (i.e. the aquisition of AMB Amro? sp)

So it is just as well that he had freinds in government that promised him the payouts if he left.........rather than just sacking him and getting the bonus's back from him that were made because of falsely reported 'good performance', for incompetance and for obsuring the true state of the banks affairs

Lying and mega incompetance that leads to losses of billions would have been enough justification for a dismissal (you would have thought), so it is very useful for bankers to have freinds in parliament who will protect them.

Basically he is going to get away with it, one can only hope that his wife of 20 years, 'Joyce' is furious and making his life a misery, both for the affair and for him having put his family in jeopardy from risk of kidnap/harm
