Driving in the US of A

stabby3 [Edit] [Delete] 15:57, 14 March '11

I'm off to LA for 2 weeks at the end of the month, including a drive and stay in Vegas. For this I'm going to need a car and going to be sharing driving responsibilities with the people I'm going with.

I have a driving licence, but don't drive in London. I've probably driven 5-10 times in the last 2 years and haven't driven a whole lot since I started.

What are you experiences of driving in America when you don't have a massive amount of driving experience? Is it easy making the switch to the other side of the road? Does having an automatic make it easier, or do you have to untrain the way you drive/think in a car WHILST ON THE OTHER SIDE? Do you give way to the left at roundabouts?

I've already accepted that I'm going to prang the car.

Any tips? Apart from don't crash.
