Mid 20s people - need some advice please

prefab_kuyt [Edit] [Delete] 00:21, 6 April '11

I have a decent, well-enough paid, full-time job in the arts sector in a really good location.

Problem is I'm not passionate about the job in any way (keep getting more and more responsibility thrown at me and before long my lack of commitment will start to shine through), and I've been distracted by wanting to get a writing career going. there's no way i can see myself in this job in 5/10 years, and my eye's just not on the ball. i keep coming home and whinging about it. in an ideal world i would work part-time in a job i didn't really care about, and plug away building a writing profile/portfoloio

Basically I want to quit, but I know that in the current financial climate it could be seen as suicide and it would make a few close people raise their eyebrows.

But no commitments, no kids, no mortgage - when else am I going to do this?

anyone else faced a similar thing? perhaps actually gone through with it? just would like to canvas opinion really. also any freelance writers on here? what's it like?

TOO MANY QUESTIONS

TL;DR etc...
