Where to start with...freelance writing

theguywithnousername [Edit] [Delete] 15:16, 11 April '11

Hi all

So I've written a couple of unpaid chapters for academic books and articles for small music sites and things and am at the point where I want to start trying to get paid written work. Whilst in the long-term I'd love to be writing more academic stuff and doing articles for newpapers and magazines, at the moment I'm happy to do anything from blog articles for small businesses, to rewriting copy for people who struggle with English or anything else within reason really. I'm obviously drawing the line at joining dodgy agencies that sell students plagiarised essays but beyond that I'll consider most things within reason.

With that in mind, anyone got on any advice on websites/agencies/places to go to get started?
