Spin-off of the 'So, there's this building in London...' thread and my 'Things to do in London' thread that I've bookmarked from a few weeks ago as I'm spending five days in London on holiday in between visiting Rome, Porto, Lisbon, Sintra beforehand and Dublin and Stockholm afterwards all in the course of three weeks.

Besides museums, food and drink, and UNESCO sites this is the sort of thing I'm real into and I reckon London's a prime example of a city to do this in. I did it in Tokyo all of the time when I lived in Yokohama (now THAT'D be a hell of a thread, no offence Londoners).

Gherkin's obvious. Everybody knows it. I know fuck-all about all the other buildings except the real famous ones that I'll see while out doing sightseeing and I'm not such an architecture nerd that I'd know where to find such information on my own.
