Saturday Morning Thread

Jordan_229_2 [Edit] [Delete] 10:35, 16 April '11

Alright. Do we normally have one of these?

Anyway, last night i had a great night until i was on my way home. A girl was unconscious on the pavement outside burger king and had cut her head open pretty badly. She was with who i think was either her boyfriend or brother, he was absolutely terrified and just trying to talk to her but not really much help. He was completely sober and she didnt smell of alcohol so i don't think it was drink related despite the time/day.

I don't really know much about first aid (although this has made me want to) but i got her into the right position to make sure she didnt swallow her tongue and tried to open her airway a bit (i really dont know if you need to do this or not but it seemed sensible), and get the vomit that was still in her mouth out of it. Also took my t-shirt off and pressed it against her head as i realised (probably too late) that she was bleeding quite badly.

Think i was there for 5-10 minutes but it felt like ages. For some reason the area was almost empty, and it seemed to take a while for an ambulance to come to say theres supposed to be one stationed in town.

She was slightly responsive as i was leaving and breathing a bit deeper (it seemed) but she still looked in a bad way. I just gave her boyfriend/brother a bit of support and left. I'm not sure if i needed to speak to the paramedics or not.

When i was leaving there were four people coming my way running and laughing and one of them shouted "there's a paki lying on the pavement". i'm not sure it matters as its disgusting anyway but these were three guys and a girl, around 16-18, two of whom were mixed race. if it was the guy that had said it and not the girl i really think i would have done something silly.

I'm still feeling low about it now. Have a friends birthday drinks and fa cup football to enjoy this evening, so i hope i can get my mind off it. I'm going to try and find out if she was ok but i have no idea how i would.

Whatre you upto today?
