Hi DiS. I locked myself out of the house today. Forgot my key, and on this particular day I had no quick or easy access to a spare. So my only option was to break in by climbing over the back wall.

Initially I planned to get over by climbing on the gas tank and then the wheely bin but a) involved climbing ONTO THE ROOF first so I passed on that, and the wheely bin didn't give me the height required by a cowardly lion such as I. So I basically spent about an hour using the many bricks in the garden to construct myself a kind of fort of a sufficiently tall height to let me climb over with ease. I feel like a bit like Bear Grylls. Although admittedly I was able to go to Mace and buy some Irn Bru for sustenance, a luxury he is rarely afforded on television.

It was fairly unstable but it held, and the terror of seeing how far I'd have to drop with only some rubbish bags to land on will stay with me for quite some time, but I actually managed to nimbly climb down the back of the garden door, a bit like Spiderman might if he locked himself out of his rented terraced house.

None of this may sounds very impressive but I'm fairly afraid of heights and spent the whole time expecting someone to call the police, so I'm unashamedly proud of myself. (So proud that I have yet to destroy the evidence. Picture of fort to follow, btw.) I've climbed through windows in this situation at home but this felt like a whole different scale and I feel ready to take on the world. I'm thinking of setting fire to the house next door later just so I can rescue their children.
