I have questions about No to AV, Yes to PR...

youdidit [Edit] [Delete] 22:15, 30 April '11

...and some people on here *seem* pretty clued up on this (my hair is still rippling in the breeze from that one creakyknees thread that whooshed over my head a few weeks ago). It is the above No, but Yes to PR campaigners, rather than the straight-forward raspberry-blowing No to AV lot, who have got me questioning myself.

I have thought it through quite a lot, and read around a little too, but still have two main sources of confusion.

One. If I want to help bring about PR as soon as possible, should I vote yes or no? Or should I vote no and then actually write: Can I have some PR, please. Would that be spoiling my vote?

Two. Unless the issue above changes my mind, I am more inclined to vote AV. There dont seem to be too many differences, seems no worse than FPTP... BUT I do keep reading that a side effect of AV could be making British politics even more of a two-horse race than it already is, generally pissing on the chips of those minority parties that at first glance I thought would prosper under AV.

So, um, does anybody know the answers to my pressing and entirely boring questions?
