Attack The Block

crablin [Edit] [Delete] 18:35, 10 May '11

I find it hard to imagine enjoying any film this year as much as I enjoyed seeing Attack The Block last night. It's rare to find a movie that is so expertly paced; not a moment exists unnecessarily or for padding, nothing bores, but it's in no way too fast either.

The casting and subsequent performances are absolutely top-notch across the board, and the dialogue - something that could be easily so divisive - only serves to suck you into the film even more.

I deliberately cast aside any pretense or favouritism based on its director (Joe Cornish of 'Adam and Joe' fame) and found myself utterly, utterly enamoured.

Yes it's got aliens, yes it's got enough South London patois to fill another movie in the Kidulthood franchise but to dismiss this film at face value would be a grotesque error. There's more story, heart and action in these 90 minutes than any other film I've seen so far in 2011; British, American or otherwise.

I implore you to go and see it when it opens tomorrow. Hell, if you don't like it, I'll send you some CDs or a post card or something to apolgise, I'm THAT confident.
