hello food lovers of DiS and welcome to my thread about puddings.

i am cooking a birthday meal for a friend tonight (at another friends house our's is rubbish) as i was unable to attend her official celebrations. main course will be macaroni cheese with bacon (it's her favourite apparently!) i want to do a starter too but my brains gone blank, especially as my bossy boyfriend says we must have dinner on the table at 9 (last time we cooked a pie which involved cooking the chicken from raw and we were boozing too, so we didn't eat until nearly midnight, whoops. so yeah, wanted to do starter and pudding but im more bothered about the pudding.

i want to do something fairly quick and easy but delicious.
perhaps something that can go in the oven while we eat dinner/something not too time consuming to prep and doesn't need to set, no panacotta suggestions please.

WHILE YOU'RE HERE, what is your favourite pudding?
im a big fan of meringue's with cream and berries, banoffee pies and anything chocolate, sponges, tortes, brownies mmmm. once my step-aunt made a banofee meruingue pie, AMAZING.
