when two or more people jokingly refer to something with a nickname and it becomes so habitual that it's used even in an argument rather than it's proper name

for example, let's say these two lads are on a trip to 'scotch corner' and for about a month prior to it they keep saying stuff like 'yeah we're going to scotch egg next month heh'

an altercation occurs between them at scotch corner (whatever the altercation was isn't relevant) and about a week after their trip they're in the pub together with another one of their mates

they get into an argument again and one of them says 'YOU WERE FUCKING LIKE THAT IN SCOTCH EGG, FUCKS SAKE ABSOLUTELY TYPICAL'

'WHAT DO YOU MEAN I WAS LIKE THAT IN SCOTCH EGG? I'VE LITERALLY NO IDEA WHAT'

'WHEN WE WENT TO SCOTCH EGG YOU WERE BEING A DICK LIKE YOU ARE NOW JUST FUCKIN'

it's funny for the third mate
