I'm not asking you to tell me how much you earn or how much they do- I'm just curious how normal it is for people to be aware of how much those around them earn.

Was out with a couple of friends yesterday, one of them talking about some jobs they were applying for and wage expectations came up ... It was only discussed in the abstract ("are you looking for an increase?" rather than "how much do you want?") but because most of my friends are teachers or work in public service, I kinda know how much they earn. Seems a bit weird. Just a bit, mind.
