What's yours?

Well when I first saw the Wii I totally got 'it' and was sort of excited to see what happened, in the end it wasn't for me but it's gimmicks compensated for it's lower specs. This on the other hand garnered no excitement from me at all, it's essentially a current gen console with a rather impressive looking controller.

The tech demo would of looked very impressive back in 2006 but looks kind of bog standard by today's standards. The controller is huge and houses a 16inch (I think it's 16 inch) screen in the middle which can be used to play the games off TV and as a GUI or as a method of controlling the game, so it sort of think of DS functionality/tab on a console as well as a portable tv.

No mention of price but looking at the controller it's going to be hideously expensive I predict around the $400 - $450 mark although I can see it maybe reaching a price as low as $350. Now I can forsee a problem, the console busts? You will need to fork out (estimate) $100 +, if the controller breaks? You will need to fork out $100+! Luckily the console supports old controllers but surely that means in multilayer some players will not have the full functionality and experience unless they buy a 2nd controller (if that's even possible)

And lastly the 3rd party support looks great.... for now, but in a couple of years when Sony & Xbox move on? I could see developers jumping ship FAST as the next gen moves on, leaving the Wii U with a void of games.

Gimmicky console that is near the end of it's lifespan, had no live demos & looks like it could be a hideously expensive prospect means I most likely will not be buying this console & I think if the price is as high as I think it'll be it won't appeal to the casual market and the core gamer will probably hold out for a true next gen machine. The only way I can see this succeeding is if they debut it at around $200.

We also have very little spec info (internal storage, multimedia, nintendo network functionality... etc etc)
