Hi Guys - I was thinking about the rise of Lionel Messi. What with him being all small and stuff and having to have hormones to make him a normal sized human.

This got me thinking - if this kid was born in the UK he probably wouldn't have made it.

Football in this country is all about being big and strong and booting the ball hard and true - especially at kids level.

I was shocked to hear my 9 yrd old nephew tell me they play on full sized pitches, with full sized goals. Crazy.

If we as a nation are ever gonna do anything in the world game, we have to embrace the skinny kids and get them to LOVE THE BALL

If I ever have a kid, I'm gonna make him practice skills with an orange, a la Maradona
