I've been applying for a lot of jobs lately and not really getting anywhere so I decided to ask for feedback from one wondering where I was going wrong.

The position: Academic Library Assistant
My experience: 5 years as public library assistant + ran a successful digital literacy/adult education campaign within the service

Their response: your application was excellent, superbly written, touching upon all the essential elements of the job with some impressive work experience - however - other candidates had an overwhelming amount of academic library experience. We encourage you to apply for any future positions here as with other competition you could easily be selected for interview.

THIS IS NO GOOD

they're basically saying that I can't do anymore than I am now to get a new job and that even the very best I can do isn't quite good enough.
