My dad used to live across the road from a guy who used to beat his wife when he met my mum, and my mum shared a flat with her friend. My dad had been seeing my mum for about 6 months when my mum fell pregnant, and my dad then proposed to my mum and they bought a house together. Meanwhile, this guy's wife had understandably had enough of the abuse, and wanted out. She had gotten quite friendly with my mum and her friend, and when my mum moved out of the flat, her friend offered her to come and live with her, so she did. When the wife-beater found out about this, in a drunken rage he decided to go round to their flat with a baseball bat, with the intention of killing both. My mums friend was (thankfully for her) out at the time, and he broke in through the door and beat his wife to death.
This kind of means that indirectly, before I was even born, I was responsible for a rather brutal murder simply by existing. This probably would have happened regardless of the bit part that my parents had in this (my mum moving out of the flat), and obviously you can't blame yourself in these situations, but this is a really really unpleasant thing to be told while having a nice meal out with the family at the local cantonese restaurant.

Anyone else been told anything really horrible like this by your parents, recently or otherwise? If so, would you like to share it on this thread?
