Flatmates and how to find them.

theguywithnousername [Edit] [Delete] 11:49, 1 August '11

I'm currently in the process of trying to find a new flatmate. I'm moving out of my current place at the end of September and have found a two bedroom place I want to move into but need someone to take the other room.

I've got two questions about this:

a) What are people's experiences of trying to find flatmates amongst Facebook friends? Specifically what steps have you taken to avoid people who you do like (or at least don't want to hurt the feelings of) but would never move in with in a million years from finding out about the place?

b) If Facebook doesn't work how have people got on with things like Spareroom? Are people who apply reasonably sane, normal individuals or do you wind up with unsuitable nutjobs?

c) Does Gumtree only find you unsuitable nutjobs or is that an irrational prejudice on my part?
