Dunno if this is more suited to the music board, but let's see.

I want to get into making some electronic/soundscapey music - Emeralds, Fennesz, that sorta thing. I'm well sorted for software and guitar equipment but I figured it'd be good to get hold of a synth. The only problem is, I have no idea what I'm looking for...

I'd like to make spazzy arpeggios and perhaps have some use of a sequencer, although I'm not sure how necessary it would be to have that onboard as I can use software sequencers.

I've been offered an Alesis Micron by someone, although from what I've told him about my intent he's not sure if it's appropriate.

Any ideas, anyone?
