Realise there was one of these during the week, but I like them. I’m planning to make this a regular thing. I always like the book threads, and I hope you do too. Ideally, as suggested by someone, I would do this at teatime, just before The Antiques Roadshow. But I'm at OFF so can't.

Anyway… Yesterday I finished An Artist of the Floating World by Kazuo Ishiguro. Probably my least favourite of the three Ishirguro books (although the others are Remains of the Day and Never Let Me Go so strong competition). Usual first-person unreliable narrator stuff, telling you his life story only with more dodgy memory lapses and one-sided story than the others. Good stuff. I’m now reading The French Lieutenant’s Woman, which is his Bridge Over Troubled Water / Born in the USA / American Idiot etc: IE not regarded as his best, but by far the most well known. If it’s even half as batshit as the others of his I’ve read, It’ll be a good time.

Interesting, I’ve been at a festival all weekend and always take a book with me to these things for passing time between bands / during shit bands. Got into a lengthy conversation about Ishiguro after someone saw me with and said “hey! That’s my favourite book”. I think this might by why I’ll never get an e-reader.

On that note, I read an article this week (can’t remember where… possibly The Oldie of al places) saying that since Kindles and E-readers have increased properly, fewer people are actually finishing books, because not having any physical ‘weight’ people aren’t sure how near the end of the book they are, and give up. Not sure if I believe this.
