£450 worth of calls to Nigeria

Lucien [Edit] [Delete] 11:54, 9 August '11

Got a friend who had a phone stolen last weekend, who discovered yesterday that Vodafone have taken £450 out of her account for a series of calls to Nigeria in the time between it being stolen and her cancelling it the following day. She rang up to see if they could cancel it or reduce the amount since it clearly wasn’t her, but apparently they won’t have a bar of it and call it an “insurance issue” and not their problem. I know she’s not exactly flush with cash so it’s not brilliant timing.

I’m surprised they’re taking such a hard line, particularly given that in real terms it costs them jack shit to connect those calls. Seems pretty brutal

Anyone had any experience with dealing with something like this i.e. actually getting the money back?
