MK-47 SHOWCASE! TUESDAY AUGUST 16th, The Macbeth (Hoxton Street), 7.30-late. £3 Entry (FREE TO DISERS). Featuring:

POLAROID 85 - 7-piece trip-hop/post-rock orchestral/electronic loveliness (a bit like Portishead, Cinematic Orchestra, Bonobo)

NATALIE McCOOL - Awesome alternative pop singer-songwriter, "Extraordinary; all original; able to calm the most disorderly of minds"

SOLAR STATE - 'Dream-pop, folktronica' trio, creating a unique hybrid of strings, bleeps, and heart-melting harmonies. (a bit like Sigur Ros, Fever Ray, Massive Attack etc)

MWEN - "In her music, you can detect influences ranging from the skittering female-centred rhythms of The Slits and The Raincoats; the bleak, bewitched emoting of Portishead's Beth Gibbons; the otherworldliness of Björk; the fire of Nina Simone, as well as more contemporary electronic sounds."
