so, the government are gonna be pushing for more CPO's, following the riots. CPO's are basically community orders, but you have to wear a bright orange jacket with 'community payback' all over it so everyone can see you and point
I do some work with offenders and I can tell you that ridicule is NOT the answer.
I do not have a problem with the idea of non-custodial sentences - in fact, I positively encourage them as sending people away for 6 months here, 2 months there is both expensive & and waste of time.
but the idea of public ridicule is simply not the answer.
any thoughts guys?
