despite awards, plaudits, rave reviews and general knob-slobbering?

I still haven't see The King's Speech. I'm probably not going to, unless it comes on TV on a Sunday night a few years from now and I'm too full of the gravy slumps to change the channel, or until someone (probably my Mum on a weekend visit home) decides to stump up for the DVD for some wholesome family viewing and I can't think of an excuse.

It ticks all of my irrational hatred boxes: Colin Firth being stoic; period drama (not just films set in another era, that would be mental and limit my viewing options greatly, I mean 'period dramas' as a semi-distinct sub-genre); the Monarchy and anything that portrays how 'human' they are underneath it all; uplifting against-all-odds overcoming of adversity plotlines; posh English swearing; universal critical plaudits; anything described as 'heartwarming'.

I'm sure the relative merits of The King's Speech have been debated to death, and that's not the point. This is pretty much like the 'what do you hate in movies' thread, except more specifically stuff you hate so much you won't even watch a film no matter how often you have it recommended to you or how big a cultural event its release turns out to be.
