I'm currently reading 'Set This House on Fire' by William Styron. He's almost certainly best known for Sophie's Choice, putting him into that category of writers whose best work isn't necessarily their most well known, or whose most famous book isn't the best they wrote.

William Golding (I prefer The Spire to Lord of the Flies)
Vladimir Nabokov (I prefer Pale Fire to Lolita)
JG Ballard (I prefer High Rise and Concrete Island to Crash or Empire of the Sun)
Brett Easton Ellis (I prefer Glamorama to American Psycho)
Margaret Atwood (I prefer Oryx and Crake to The Handmaid's Tale)

Anyone read the Booker longlist yet? Me neither.

Has anyone read In Search of Lost Time or whatever the traslated title is of that Marcel Proust epic. Is it worth bothering with? Is A Dance to the Music of Time worth bothering with? Is the Forsyte Saga worth bothering with? Is anything worth bothering with? I fancy a good saga.
