I'm going to my friend's wedding on an Island off of Sicily in a couple of weeks. As it's costing so much my lady and I are making a holiday of it and spending a couple of nights in Rome and then going to stay with her friend in Florence.

So Rome is the bone of contention...it's going to be stupidly expensive isn't it?

If you please, suggestions on reasonable places to stay, eat and entertain ourselves.
