Really obvious stuff about being a Britisher that you still don't get

ThierryEnnui [Edit] [Delete] 11:53, 7 September '11

I still don't understand the ridiculous fuss and rituals about hot water-based drinks in this country. Seriously, for about two hours every morning I can't get in to the work kitchen to get my cereal because everyone has descended to stand around for ages making tea, then every hour at most somebody has to get up and announce that they are going to make more tea, which requires the gathering of every cup in the vicinity and asking each individual if they want a tea, including me, despite the fact that I haven't drunk any tea at all since about 1998.

Mild irritants surrounding tea also include:
-Tea smells a bit weird
-Poitnlessly specific tea instructions, such as "half a spoon of sugar", and the look on people's face when you don't live up to their tea requirements by putting a few millilitres too much milk in or something
-The inside of tea cups look horrible with their ingrained tea skid marks
-Tea drinkers leave the milk out of the fridge for ages (I may not drink tea, but I bloody love a glass of milk)
-Tea bags left literally anywhere people feel like leaving them, often only to be found when you put a stack of plates in the sink to wash up and one comes bobbing to the surface like a squishy brown U-boat
-How everybody assumes you're some kind of joyless twat for not joining in the tea-related hijinks
