Words/names that you read/write all the time but have never heard pronounced

robluvsnic [Edit] [Delete] 15:31, 7 September '11

Inspired by the fact that I see the name Eamon written all the time, but I have never heard anyone ever be called by what I presume the name sounds like: it's just ee-mon, yeah? Or is it something unexpected like je-ray-men-day-shus? I remember reading a book with a character called Siobhan and I was three quarters of the way through before I clicked that she wasn't called 'See-oh-barn', but 'Shi-vawn".

Alternatively, you can ignore that admittedly rather narrow topic and just tell stories about people mispronouncing common words.
