Well, now's your chance to help a brother out. I've just got a new job up there, starting in January. Which means that, before Christmas, I have to find somewhere to live. Unfortunately, whilst I've been for a few brief trips and really liked it, I know next to nothing about the wider city. So in lieu of doing any research for myself, I've decided to ask the internet.

Basically I'll be working very centrally - about 200 yards from Waverley station. I don't drive, so ideally I want to be somewhere either close to the centre or with really good transport links. Is there anywhere nice that fits that description? Is it true that rent is as expensive as anywhere outside London?

Any advice appreciated. Plus also any useful / interesting stuff about the city, things to do, etc...
