So iPads are pretty unanimously popular. But not cheap. Are there decent competitor products or not? Is the UK getting the Kindle Fire?

What about the smaller devices (like 7-inch screens etc) - they seem about half the price. Not as good, but - half the price (and still perfectly adequate for browsing etc).

Tablets! Like the Flintstones but shinier.
