Glasgow 2014 XX Commonwealth Games hype thread.

Tickets:
On sale on 19th August, for four weeks. Random draw for events that are oversubscribed (for that event - no substitution tickets for an alternative event). Between £15 and £90 (apart from a few expensive ringside boxing seats). Two-thirds of all tickets on sale for £25 or less. Half-price tickets for under-16s and over-60s. Price includes free local public transport on the day of the event.
Main Venues:
Celtic Park - Opening ceremony on 23 July. 60,000 capacity.
Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome - Already been up and running for six months and will have hosted three or four major track events by the time of the games. 4,000 capacity. The attached adjacent indoor arena (a national training centre for athletics, basketball, netball, and volleyball) will host badminton on six courts, with seating for up to 5,000.
Hampden Park - Playing surface raised by 2 metres to convert it for track and field events. Closing ceremony will be here, too. Games capacity of 44,000.
Ibrox - Will 50,000 people want to watch rugby sevens. Time will tell.
Tollcross Pool - Refurbed and extended over the last two years. 16 lanes over 2x50m pools. 5,000 seater. Re-opening to the public later this month on May 24. (Diving @ Edinburgh Commonwealth pool.)
SECCCCCC - Gymnastics, boxing, judo, netball, wrestling and weightlifting. In the Hydro (the muffin, which opens at the end of this year, with seating for 12,500, and will be a main regional venue for mega-bands etc) and the Clyde Auditorium (the armadillo), plus the other exhibition halls.
Strathclyde Country Park - Triathlon, rowing, sailing and cycling.
Squash & table tennis at Scotstoun (2,500 each), Hockey @ Glasgow Green (5,000), Mountain Bikes @ Cathkin Braes, Bowls (!) @ Kelvingove (2,500).
