I'd say the film Slacker for the early 90s. I saw it a few years after it was made but as a graduate unemployed no hoper, this film made perfect sense together with the music that was out there at the time. Even the poster girl for the film was a member of Butthole Surfers. That's my nomination for the early 90s. What about yours?
