Don't all race into the thread at once!

I have a cheque.
I cannot get to the bank.
Can I send said cheque in the post to my local bank with just a letter expressing where I want the cheque to be deposited?
Ala - 'Please pay this cheque into my savings account sort code: blah account no: blah' ?

Someone says yes
Someone else reckons I need a payment slip but I can't get a payments slip because I can't get to the bank, duh.
