Anyone ever attempted to apply for an Australian Visa?

beautiful_balloon [Edit] [Delete] 18:43, 19 October '13

Hi folks,

I've been looking into the possibility of moving to Australia for a year to teach, problem is there's about 9000 types of Visa and the whole process is notoriously difficult.

I'm aware you can get a working holiday Visa, but that only enables you to work for six months and teaching posts tend to be for a year.

Getting a full on* work Visa costs in the thousands from what I can gather and they're not accepting any more applications for the particular work that i'd be doing (though teaching is on their 'skilled workers' list)*not its official title

I think my only option might be getting a sponsorship, but is this just a crazy pipe dream? Do you know anyone whose ever been sponsored? If so are they regular Joes or would you need to be an astronaut or similar?

Thanks dis
