The best series this year for me was Ray Donovan on Sky Atlantic. The trailers didn't give much away and it turned out to be probably the best drama series since the early years of The Sopranos. Another great show was Banshee. It had strong violence (brilliant set piece punch ups) and a really daft plot but was brilliant to watch. Check them out if you haven't already. Currently The Blacklist is a favourite. Basically a composite of 24, Silence Of The Lambs and any Jerry Bruckheimer but nonetheless works very well.

I'm not sure which series have been poor this year. I tend to leave certain ones before they begin to irritate me. The Walking Dead and Homeland started off below par but both have improved in the last few episode, especially The Walking Dead.
