acquaintances — almost invariably work colleagues — who are desperately keen to develop a friendship with you / socialise outside of the office, and even go so far as to contrive situations for you to have to engage in out of the ordinary interaction, like them asking you for a lift home from work, when they've actually cancelled their standing arrangements for no good reason. Or they keep on inviting you for a post-work drink at some terrible pub near work, despite the fact that you've politely turned them down on that offer the last dozen or so times they've made it.

Can we agree that such people are the fucking worst?
