So it all starts tonight. Confidence is high in Seattle as a pumped 12th man roar for their world champion Seahawks. A young team has many predicting the start of a dynasty and with many players on cheap contracts there is certainly a good chance of that this year.
That being said there have been some departures among their underrated supporting cast such as Golden Tate, Walter Thurmond and Chris Clemons so John Schneider will have to have done another good job it the team aren't to even have a slight dip, particularly since the league seems to want to stop their cornerbacks from cheating. A healthy Percy Harvin would be nice too.

The Packers stumbled last season without their quarterback, and the lost momentum may have been a factor in their swift playoff exit on wild card weekend. There they suffered a close defeat to a highly rated 49ers squad showing that they probably still have all the quality they need to make another championship run. Their biggest challenge may not come tonight but later in the season from within their division with the Bears and Lions trying to gun them down with great offence and not much else.

It's hard to see the Packers continuing a two win streak of challengers knocking off the champs in week one. These Seahawks were and still are, the real deal.

The weekend brings us two all AFC North matchups and two all NFC South matchups.
The only other divisional game is being hosted by Miami as the Patriots look to put one over their rivals on the way to a sixth straight AFC East title and it's hard to see anything stopping Bill's evil empire. There are question marks over Gronkowski's availablity, which means he'll certainly be playing. Will injuries have started taking their toll on the leagues second best tight end? When will Brady really start to decline? Just how does he make Julian Edelman look half decent?
As for the hosts, it has to be asked, how did they get so close to the playoffs last year with a worse than average defence and a lot worse than average offence? What have they done to get better? Will the overhauled offensive line spark Ryan Tannehill to get his career moving or at least to stay out of hospital? (Oh, and Ryan, stay away from Revis Island)
This is a game the New England win.

The Cowboys are going to make stars out of some average quarterbacks this season and I'm not talking about Brandon Weeden. A defence touted as being one of the worst in history should get a good working over from Colin Kaepernick & Co on Sunday. That being said there are concerns that the 49ers are regressing and are no longer the formidable defensive powerhouse of two or three seasons ago. Questions in San Francisco must revolve around whether the young quarterback can develop and live up to the touted value of his new contract. His weapons are good but not superstars and appear to lack consistency.
If this game can turn into a shootout (which the Cowboys must be praying for) the big W stays in Big D.

And so we go on into the night as Andrew Luck travels up to Mile High.
Last time out the apprentice kicked the master out of his old house and slammed the door, but how will he cope with the rarified air of Denver?
Certainly the Broncos look to have tried to make it more difficult for opposing quarterbacks. Would you be able to see the gaps between TJ Ward and Aqib Talib when Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware are flying toward you?
A question both clubs have is what do we really have at wide receiver? Who is Hakeem Nicks now we might ask? Wes Welker hopefully won't be asking who he is this season, but his concussion issues are becoming a worry, however Emmanuel Sanders can be backed to step up to the plate and excel with Peyton throwing his way. He'll probably catch the touchdown that gives Denver this win.

Then on Tuesday Morning Football we get to see one of the most disjointed offences in the league face up to a horrible defence whilst an offence loaded with weapons meet a defence that has a lot of potential.
Matthew Stafford finds himself with some new toys in the shape of Golden Tate and Eric Ebron and he still has the transformer who never seems to change, Calvin Johnson. The gunslinger really just needs to find some accuracy and his team can dominate a good division, but if he misses this week an excellent Giants secondary will eat up the Lions.
The Giants strength this year will come from their coverage unit which should help win their defensive line some sacks. On the opposite side of the ball, Eli's struggles last season came from a dearth of protection from his offensive line. Whilst improvements have arrived there, his challenge this year comes from being thrust into a west coast offence designed for quarterbacks who can move away from their pocket. So far, this seems a bad plan. Deminishing talent at receiver means the Giants will rely on the run, but this week that would be a bad gameplan.
Expect New York to shoot themselves in the foot by playing into Detroit hands and losing a low scoring contest.

Did someone say double header? Out in the desert the Chargers come to town for their seemingly annual chance to close out week one when everyone else has binged to much and just wants to settle down in front of BBC 2 in time for The Great Escape.
Small markets such as these bring us hidden gems and we'll see some under-rated players here. Carson Palmer looked quite good last season right? Who'd have thought? Michael Floyd, he's good. The stars in 'Zona live on defence though. Antonio Cromartie and Patrick Peterson either side of the Honey Badger? Look out Phil Rivers.
Keenan Allen and Rivers resurgence meant the the Chargers snuck into the post season when noone saw them coming last year. OK, I'm drawing blanks here. All the more reason to stay up and learn about these teams. Both will probably be in the wildcard hunt come December.
I say this game will be a tie!
