NFL WEEK 3 THREAD
Fine, I'll do this quickly before I head off to DiS football:
SKY SPORTS, 6PM
GREEN BAY PACKERS @ DETROIT LIONS
A division rivalry in the NFC North with two teams who will be looking to win in an always competitive division, can see the Lions finally lifting their Green Bay monkey off, given their defence almost succumbed to the Jets had it not been for the most ridiculous time-out call ever. Should be high scoring, that's for sure (DET by 4-5)
SKY SPORTS, 9.25PM
DENVER BRONCOS @ SEATTLE SEAHAWKS
Well, don't need to go into the history of this one much, we all know what happened in February (expect me, I was mortal). This game certainly got a lot more interesting since last week San Diego proved the reigning champions CAN be shut down with a brilliant performance at home. But that's exactly it, Seattle always look a tiny bit suspect away from home. Fair enough the Superbowl was in a neutral venue, but they still made a whole lot of noise and momentum in there with them. I certainly don't think this will be a blowout like that very surprising climax to last season, but I'm yet to see any reason why the Seahawks would give up anything at home, just look at the opening game against Green Bay. If anything though, this could be the superbowl we were supposed to get. SEA by 3
1.30AM, CHANNEL 4
PITTSBURGH STEELERS @ CAROLINA PANTHERS
It seems like an age ago when Baltimore beat Pittsburgh in that very tumultuous night 10 days ago doesn't it? While Pittsburgh should benefit from the longer preparation time, it still doesn't account for how mediocre they looked, and travelling down to a tough, in form Carolina team is hardly the response you're after (CAR by 7)
MONDAY NIGHT, 1.30AM, EUROSPORT
CHICAGO BEARS @ NEW YORK JETS
Bears looked mighty impressive last week in their bounce back win at San Francisco's new digs, meanwhile the Jets remain the Jets, promising yet constantly hilarious. Have to think the Bears will keep that momentum going against a messy New York side, but they're prone to their own hilarious pratfalls too. (CHI by 4-5)
THE REST, EARLIES:
SAN DIEGO @ BUFFALO - Interesting one this, both teams have started promisingly and are coming off very impressive wins. San Diego's defeat of the champs was arguably more impressive, but its a long, long, long trip North to Buffalo for a side who don't travel well at the best of times (BUF by 3)
DALLAS @ ST LOUIS - Speaking of teams who don't travel well, Dallas are equally mighty inconsistent on the road (well everywhere really) and the Rams haven't been all that convincing yet. So basically i've no idea. (STL by 3)
WASHINGTON @ PHILADELPHIA - Philly's comeback last week away to Indy wowed many into believing they are genuine contenders, and while Kirk Cousins proved once again is a more that amiable backup, that was against Jacksonvillle. At Home. (PHI by 7)
HOUSTON @ NEW YORK GIANTS - The Giants are having another horrible year, while Houston have been quick off the mark, long may it continue. (HOU by 4-5)
MINNESOTA @ NEW ORLEANS - weird one this, the Saints are 0-2 and Minnesota are without their star. The rot stops here (NO by 4-5)
TENNESSEE @ CINCINNATI - Horrible places to spell this. (CIN by 7)
BALTIMORE @ CLEVELAND - whatever happens, Cleveland will have the moral victory, despite Johnny Manziel (BAL by 4-5)
INDIANAPOLIS @ JACKSONVILLE - Poor Jags, Indy are gonna be playing angry, could be a bloodbath (IND by 7)
OAKLAND @ NEW ENGLAND - Brady remembered who he was last week, bad news for Oakland (NE by 7)
LATES:
SAN FRANCISCO @ ARIZONA - Another week, another horrible domestic abuse case. Puts a tarnish on an otherwise quite likeable Arizona squad, who given their form, could just have enough to tip this one, if Carlson Palmer is active. If not SF by 3
KANSAS CITY @ MIAMI - Why is this a late kickoff? Anyway, both had hard fought losses yesterday, so I dunno, probably a tie.
YOU?
