So apparently cirrhosis of the liver has doubled in young adults over the past 10 years. This makes me worry as I definitely drink over the recommended 21 units a week for men (which equates to about 7 pints, I probably drink the equivalent of double that :S). The thing is I rarely get stupidly drunk. I have about 3-4 drinks per session (more on Friday), typically on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, once in the middle of the week and one on Friday lunchtime. Does this classify as 'heavy drinking'? I mainly drink ale and bottled lager.

I know the obvious answer would be 'drink less', but I like drinking as it's an enjoyable habit (especially with a cigarette), it helps me forget about my problems for a bit and gives me something in the week to look forward to.
