when people with houses say "home" and they mean their parents' house

Fuzzy_Dunlop [Edit] [Delete] 12:19, 22 October '14

my friends still do this, and we're mostly in our early thirties. moved out years ago, some of us own houses now, yet when they mention "home" my first interpretation is, you know, where they actually live and sleep most nights. I always end up being corrected, "no, you know, my parents' house".

always thought this to be really odd behaviour, like they're in denial of their adult lives or something. I also feel a bit upset knowing my flatmates don't think of our flat as home, whereas I do.
