cycling thread - the spring classics

powerfulmellow [Edit] [Delete] 14:09, 22 March '15

It's Milan-San Remo day! Definitely time for the spring classics thread then.

Via Roma finish is back. And it's raining, which seems to be a must for bike races in Italy in the last 5 years.

Undoubtedly Sagan and Kristoff are the favourites, but Cancellara looks to be on super form and it's hard to discount Degenkolb if the race is more selective. Cavendish says he's not 100%, but might be some mind games being played.

If there's a bunch finish, some outsiders include Guardini (Astana), Haussler (IAM) and Cimolai (Lampre), all with wins this season. The Poggio might see attacks from guys like Geraint Thomas and Tony Gallopin - both on good form early in the season - and with wet roads they stand a good chance of staying away.
