Contacting an employer after a job interview

WhiteLightWhiteCity [Edit] [Delete] 08:04, 6 May '15

Have read loads on the internet about following up an interview with a thank you message to the interviewer. This is probably an American commercial thing maybe, but I've always found it slightly strange.

Anyway, I had an interview yesterday, and the the interviewer stated at the end that if I had any other questions or wanted to discuss any other aspects, then I should feel free to get in touch. I don't really have any more questions, but wonder whether I ought to just send a patsy `nice to meet yesterday` message as a courtesy / obvious attempt to suck up.

Do you ever write a follow up note after a job interview?
