forced upgrades (a whinge thread / thread for telling people to stop being such whingers)

robluvsnic [Edit] [Delete] 14:54, 17 December '15

Bought a new phone (okay, iPhone 6s) having been using the same phone (iPhone 4s) for just short of 4 years.

It arrived yesterday, and I've suddenly found that I can't do all the things I'd normally do with it (most significantly, store music), because it needs iTunes 12.3 or something.

I can't upgrade to iTunes 12.3, because it needs OS X 10.8.5 or later and my OS X is only 10.6.8. While newer OS X is now free, and technically runs on my old computer, it needs more RAM than my computer has for it not to run excruciatingly slowly.

So now I'm forking out an extra $120 for extra RAM to update to an OS X that I don't really want (and will probably slow my computer down) so that I can update to a new version of iTunes that gives me nothing over my old iTunes, because I still reckon iTunes 6 was the pinnacle.

So, forced upgrades, huh?

(I know: it's all my fault for buying Apple products.)
