What some of our favourite musicians hope for in 2009...
What some of our favourite musicians hope for in 2009...
sean by Sean Adams January 27th, 2009

As part of our vague 2009 preview week this week, we thought it might be nice to catch up with some of our acts of last year and new acts we're excited about and ask them what they're looking forward to in 2009. This is what they said:

Scott Hutchison Frightened Rabbit: I'm excited about writing and recording a new record. I probably need a part time job too. I've always wanted to be a postie. It would get me up in the morning.

Pink Eyes from Fucked Up: First and foremost, my wife and I looking forward to the birth of our child. Playing in China, Japan and Australia is also high on the list. Doing something other then being in this band. Sex Vid and Iron Age taking this whole thing to the next level.

Howling Bells: Tour, tour, tour!!! We have a new album Radio Wars coming first week March, which we're very proud of and we want everyone to hear it.

Aaron Pfenning from Chairlift: Music videos, new music, new countries, more sunshine.

Caroline Polachek from Chairlift: New videos, more touring, and the beginnings of our next record! We're really excited to get back into the studio and make new songs.

Katie from Sky Larkin: We have a headline tour in January (with the irrepressible Pulled Apart By Horses as support) ahead of our record The Golden Spike which comes out 2/2/08. Smile times.

Doug from Sky Larkin: I want to go to Japan and make a video on a Miami beach. ANYWHERE WARM.

Daniel Stricker from Midnight Juggernauts: Recording our new record in a cave. Building a submarine, exploring the underwater world and coming back over to your shores through a haze in the midst of it all.

Darren from We Have Band: The year starts with us touring around Europe and some parts of the UK again and then we're off to Texas for SXSW in March. We'll have another single around then too. And our album will be out at some point around the half way point. We're all really excited about festival season next summer. I think that might be the highlight.

Jonathan Meiburg from Shearwater: To know it's the end of the Bush years, thank God. Hope: More miles, more shows, a new album, and a little more time to sleep in my own bed, write at my own desk, and be away from cities than in 2008.

Volker aka Hauschka: I am looking forward to a couple of interesting collaborations and it looks like I will play some nice festivals. Besides that I am trying to find a quiet place, where I can compose a long piece for orchestra.

Johnny Foreigner: In 2009 we want to make a new album and play some more shows and make some more badges and generally keep putting off the real world for as long as possible. There's at least a dozen towns in the UK we haven't been to. We want to play at least 100 more festivals and 100 more basement shows in Philadelphia and go back to Whitehaven.

No Age: We, NO AGE are doing a lot in 2009, some of it involves making music, some is recording music, some of it is secret. but we are going to live in LA for a bit, and we are really excited, this year has been so rad and incredible, thanks to everyone, 2009 is going to blow 2008 away though. yes!
