White Denim's SXSW blog
White Denim's SXSW blog
mijbear by James Lawrenson March 26th, 2009

Steve Terebecki, bassist with White Denim, has blogged for DiS and shared three photos which sum up his SXSW, the music festival which takes place every year in the bands hometown (Austin, Texas).

"There are many pluses and minuses about my SXSW experience. Among the pluses were jammin' songs for some frat boys, eating at kebabalicious twice, seeing a friend I hadn't seen in 5 years, and checkin' out about 5 great bands while spending little money. I also attended a Renaissance themed party with a dragon and wizard battle that had free beer and dragon's blood (everclear and jolly ranchers).

Then there was the window on 6th street where I danced with someone who looked like Jesus and two people that looked like amateur bank swindlers to Bone Thugz 'N Harmony while onlookers from around the globe took pictures and flipped us off. Casually walking down the street and hearing Metallica playing 'Master of Puppets' and everyone in the streets singing the only words they knew was pretty special. Receiving an anonymous text from someone that included the phrases, "bro i'm fucked up on mushrooms @ the fader fort w/my homie dave", "mad dank", "dude we need to party later dude", "naw mean", all in one text.

I must say the only minuses that occurred was only due to the fact that I could not be in 20 places at the same time. Just knowing all the great stuff I missed is upsetting, but somehow I believe I successfully blocked that out. Thanks, God. I could actually rant for a long time about all the things that bummed me out about SXSW, but it mostly involves other people's downfalls, attitudes, professionalism, Generation Y, transportation, parking and if I were a female I would add bathrooms. But don't those minuses occur everyday anyway? It was a great time, and if you weren't here you missed out."
