E-Content: Year That Was
E-Content: Year That Was
rubbafish by Colin Weston September 7th, 2002
Without DiS' 2nd birthday approaching on October 1st, we thought it was about time we went over things that've gone up on the site over the past year. So to kick us off, here's Colin's guide to the free streams, video's and mp3s that we've had in E-CONTENT...

As you may or may not know, I am the head of e-content on this site. What does that mean? Well, it means I find MP3's, videos and audio streams I like (or think you like) and promptly slam them up for you to check out... piece of piss, innit? Although, due to space restrictions, all our content can't stay forever, a lot of it does stay a bloody long time.

One of the first links we had up was for Aereogramme and the real audio link of 'Post Tour, Pre-Judgement' and just look at how well they are doing now! As well as MP3's by the likes of Koala & Eminems mum and her 'classic' track Dear Marshall, around August/September 2001, we gave you the MP3 of a track called Miss Black America by a band of the same name, prior to their October Drowned in Sound tour and guess what the bands next single release is!

Around November time we made some new friends and were given semi-exclusive content from labels such as Warp, Kung-Fu Records & Ninja Tune among others! Exclusives around that time included Aphex Twin and a taster from his last album with 54 Cymru Beats and MP3's from weezerites Ozma & ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead. Just before Xmas I decided to put up stuff I liked and wanted to force upon the masses. Bands suck as SWAMPdonkey and their track 'Wooden Sky', The Magnificents and their track 'Kids Now' (which we got just before they went and supported Mogwai) and the full MP3 of The Buffseeds forthcoming single (at the time) 'Casino'.

Over the next few months, as well as classic tracks from the likes of Placebo & The Ataris, we also gave you videos from dis faves Electrelane, an MP3 of the superb yet unheard of Stereo Cat Babies and a link to download the whole Weezer 'Maladroit' album for nothing!

Since March we have tried to bring you the best that music has to offer. From exclusives from artists such as Gonzales & Engerica to classics from the like of Dr. Dre & Idlewild, we do TRY and cater for you all and in the forthcoming weeks we will have content from Ash, Silverchair, Mr Scruff & McLusky.

So, just to finish it all off with, here are my top 5 audio links (in no particular order) :-

1) The Middle - Jimmy Eat World
2) You Spin Me Round (Like A Record Baby) - Caffeine
3) Right On Q - The Vandals
4) Black Holes - Kinesis
5) Khartoum - Stony Sleep

All in all, if there is anything YOU want to see, let us know and we will see what we can do. Until then, you keep listening, and I will keep trawling around for great sounds!
