DiS free show Jeniferever, ex-Slowdive and now with added Cats and Cats and Cats!
DiS free show Jeniferever, ex-Slowdive and now with added Cats and Cats and Cats!
sean by Sean Adams February 17th, 2006

FREE entry DiS matinee gig this Saturday at Notting Hill Arts Club...

Due to extraordinary demand in London to see Drowned in Sound Recordings' Jeniferever (two sold out shows already at Heavenly Social and Barfly, and next week's sold-out-way-in-advance gig with Isobel Campbell), we've added this show especially for them. So, come one, come all...

The show takes place tomorrow, Saturday 18th February, from 4-8pm at Notting Hill Arts Club (http://www.nottinghillartsclub.com), and it's part of the Rough Trade shops-sponsored RoTa series. Entry is FREE to all, but please arrive early to ensure entry. The line-up is as follows...

Jeniferever
Swirling sunset-drenched Swedes of "crystalline beauty" as Rock Sound lovingly put it, in their tips for 2006. Debut album Choose a Bright Morning is out on March 13th through Drowned in Sound Recordings. Limited edition 7", 'From Across the Sea', is out this week - get it here.

Cats and Cats and Cats
Runners-up in our readers' tips for 2006 poll, Catsx3 play can't-keep-still technical rock with a mathy edge, without ever forgetting choruses. You can read the review for their debut EP here.

Televise
Featuring Simon Scott, ex-Slowdive.

Paul Marshall
The guys from Jeniferever demanded we put on this Leeds-based singer songwriter. They love him so much they have invited him out to Sweden to record with them.

CLUBAC30 DJ Set
ClubAC30 is one of London's finest indie clubs, specialising in gazing at shoes and the stars. Expect lots of classic Creation stuff mixed with great bits they've put out or on, like Sennen and Amusement Parks on Fire.

DrownedinSound Recordings DJ Set
Sean vs the Judge. Expect gentle Saturday afternoon face-offs between Belle & Sebastian, Godspeed, Liars, The Shins and Elliott Smith.

DrownedinSound.com DJ Set
Mike vs Colin. Expect strange men singing about wearing purple, others shouting about knowing them as trails of bread, interspersed with noize, jazz and spoken word.

And if that wasn't enough...

DRINK SPECIALS (4-8pm on Saturdays)
house beer: £2
glass of house wine: £2
bottle of house wine: £8
glass of house fizz: £2.50
bottle of house fizz: £13
house cocktails: £4.50

See you tomorrow then? Click here to add it to your gig calendar. Oh, and there may be one extra act acoustic, details later if so...
