BAD MAG NEWS: Issue #2 Delayed!
BAD MAG NEWS: Issue #2 Delayed!
sean by Sean Adams September 6th, 2003
Drowned in Print? Drowned in Virus' more-like...

You never think it will happen to you, that the slack-jawed hackers will kill your fun. You don't expect those kinda things on the news to mess you about, but it has happened to us. Our designer's computer will not compute, our Darkness feature writer can't get his machine to do anything more than beep and half our staff, including our advertising address, have their emails sporadically blocked. It's not good, it's not right and it's not relenting. Added to the fact DiS have just moved and don't have an internet connection yet (tho internet cafe's are handy until Tuesday!).

Basically, we've got to restart design on issue 2 from scratch, we've got to chase advertisers for their artwork again and have no chance of getting the mag ready by In the City this week. Design has been taken over by Virus-Free Martin Mildner, responsible for the top graphics throughout the site.

The plan now is postpone the mag's street date until September 23rd and make it part of our three years of DiS celebrations and replace the In the City content with a guide to 'the Best of British' (including the likes of Muse, The Coopers, The Darkness, Jetplane Landing, Kinesis, Biffy Clyro, Suede, Cat on Form, Colour of Fire, Seachange, Youth Movie Soundtrack Strategies, Boxer Rebellion, Hookers Green #1...) covering bands of all angles, shapes and sizes. Plus, so as not to be nationalistic about it, there's bands from all over the world like Pretty Girls Make Graves, Magnet, The Robocop Kraus and lots more.

Distribution of the free newspaper will still be throughout the Chain With No Name and on tour with selected bands. Any interested advertisers, please contact advertising@drownedinsound.com. Ads range from £40-800.

If you haven't got hold of a DiS badge and a copy of #1, The Truck Special as yet, send a C4/A4 Stamped Self-Addressed Envelope or two first class stamps to: Drowned in Sound Mag, 72 Palatine Road, Stoke Newinton, London, N16 8ST.
