DiS Manchester #5 = MASH IT 23/04/04!!!
DiS Manchester #5 = MASH IT 23/04/04!!!
-Raz- by Raziq Rauf April 12th, 2004
Hooray! March RaZdango brung the Japanese Darkness to Manchester! Electric Eel Shock mashed up our brains with their fat squeals of, "SEX...DRUGS...AND EEEEEE-MAIL". And they brang a veritable treat along with them in the shape of the mentalist painted goons known as AntiProduct, who slapped stickers everywhere and metalled it all up and mashed stuff. Moco had were totally afroed and it gave us some darn good rock n rawl too! Rock shapes galore came from my personal choice of Hollywood Ending and their travelling troops from Rochdale.

Mighty fine mashing! You probably missed it. We were turning people away from the door. BOOOO! Phool! This month we got some more super wicked stuff coming from some more top bands. As if they're not gonna be. Really.

What? CLUB FANDANGO & DROWNED IN SOUND.COM

When? FRIDAY 23rd APRIL 2004

Who playing? JETSON + ATLANTIC DASH + VOICECOIL + L.DOPA

Where? NIGHT & DAY @ 26 Oldham St.

How much? £4 on the door or £3 if you e-mail raz@drownedinsound.com and ask me

How long? 8pm until 2am!

Most fun thing to do? Read some fancy books in the corner with a goblet of mead and proceed to quote memorable passages to all and sundry in between all the wicked bands.

What's it all gonna sound like?

**JETSON**
This all started when a couple of pissheads working in a Saino's near Newcastle decided they "were bored of the music scene in the northeast" and so formed a band. They played their 1st gig in Whitley Bay. Nuff Respect for that. Then they won some shit on Radio 1 for not having a record deal. I haven't got a record deal but who gives me presents? NOBODY. You'll like these guys if you like the Manics, or Kinesis, or King Adora. Sorry about the last reference. Belly buttons ahoy!
SocialHandGrenades.com

**ATLANTIC DASH**
Almost copied directly from the Fierce Panda website: 5 young men from the backstreets of Northampton who create a kaleidoscopic alternative rock sound which nods at a slew of contemporary combos but cannily seeks to make its own way in the musical world. At times epic and proud, at others dynamic and speedy, by the time this gig comes around they will have recorded a mini-album for Fierce Panda at Fortress Studios. But not before they release some cheapass 7" vinyl classic-in-waiting record for FP.

**VOICECOIL**
From Manchester! 5 of them again. They allegedly sound like Portishead with less lady and more Buckley but aren't trip-hop. So that's a bit confusing. Which is Good! You can describe this stuff with words like "epic" and "cinematic" and "Coldplay" but despite being youngsters they play with maturity. Not like an old giffa but in a good way. Obviously!

**L.DOPA**
From Manchester! Named after a drug that works against Parkinson's Disease. I like to twitch a bit when I watch bands, but that's probably neither here nor there. Used to be appallingly named The Agents of Groove (haha) but now do funky garagey rocky kinda cool stuff. Bring IT!

P.S. Next Club RaZdango on Friday May 28th with some more drunken Manchester Massive tomfoolery sure to be crossing my path, at least.

Alternatively, you can ask yourself the question: "Have I been Friendstered?" If not... FRIENDSTER Club RaZdango!
